Okay so I guess I should explain myself or what I meant by the last post. A lot of you hit it right on, but I didn't necessarily mean that all your children's and spouses and important people in your life's mistakes or successes define you... what I meant is the relationships you have with them define you... they become a part of you and help you to become who you are as a person. We are shaped and molded because of our experiences... the most important being those relationships with the people we love and who love us most. KWIM?
Anyway.
My husband is so freaking sweet huh? Loved his post and it WAS for my birthday. You want to know what else he did? May make you vomit it was so sweet. He did a "Great Birthday Race" (because I'm obsessed with the Amazing Race reality show-gooooo cowboys!) for me. Kind of like a scavenger hunt with clues all around town. I have it all on video and am going to try and cut it and make it viewable so you can see it all because I documented it on my flip cam.
But during that Great Amazing Birthday Race I had an experience...
I thought I'd share. LOL. It's a funny, yet complimentary, experience.
More to the story--not word for word... he came up to me in the fruit section of Walmart and asked, "How do you say this in English" as he was pointing to the Papaya's.
Me: "Um Papaya?"
Him: "Yea, that is how you say it in Spanish, but how do you say in English"?
Me: "Uhhhh..." silence for a sec, "Papaya"?
Him: "Oh! Whenever I go to the cashiers they always don't know how to say it."
Me: Smile.
Him: "I have a joke for you." and proceeds to tell me a joke involving monkeys... it's not clear right now.
Me: Laugh laugh. Start walking away.
Him: "So I see you have a Party Girl button on" pointing to the ribbon my family gave me to wear for my birthday.
Me: "Yea, It's my birthday today"
Him: "Happy Birthday! Hey it's my birthday next week! I'll be 27."
Me: "Sweet!" Smile, awkward giggle.
Him: "So you'll be what? 25?"
Me: "Oh... you're good. No, no... I'm 32"
Him: "Really?!? You don't look more than 27! At the most."
Me: "ha ha... you keep saying that."
Him: "So are you married?"
Me: "Yes." start cluing in that he wanted to ask me out. What!? I've been married for 11 years! I don't get picked up on.
Him: "Dang! I was going to ask you out!"
The rest is a blur... but I couldn't help but laugh.
And it was kinda a compliment... not going to lie.

Shelle rockin the 80's
So thanks for the outpouring of love and concern about where I've been. Thousands and thousands of emails have come in along with Facebook and Twitter statuses wondering "Where for art thou Shelle". (sentence dripping with sarcasm)
I bet y'all are surprised that I had very few people wonder where I was during my week or so of absence... you know who you are... and your check is in the mail. I truly love you as much as anyone can for only knowing you online.
Anyway, I'm not here to complain or tell you how I have hacked up both of my lungs until I decided I was sick enough to head to the doctors where he promptly told me if I would have waited much longer he would have hospitalized me with puenomia. Instead, I just have Bronchitis and a sinus infection that we are treating aggressively. I'm good and it was all so dramatic. Yet I live.
I'm moving on... or backwards... depending upon how you look at it.
Two Saturday's ago MSM and I were invited to an 80's prom night. We freaking rocked it... I meant to take my flip cam and show you how it all turned out, but instead, I was getting SICK--so I totally forgot the flip cam... all's I have is my blackberry and the camera on it.
Here are some of our poses. This isn't the actual Prom Backdrop they had, a PROFESSIONAL photographer was taking our pics for that (yea, these peeps went all out) but we took these at another poster they had made and put up. The night was a blast--I love stuff like this.
I, however, hate 80's hair and still do... but if you are going to do something like this, my philosophy is "GO BIG OR GO HOME"-- even as I was ratting my bangs, my husband walked in and said, "Babe, ya gotta get them higher than that!?"
So without further ado... I present to you... Shelle, how I would have rocked it, in the 80's if I would have gone to a CASUAL prom, in the 80's.
![]() |
| I tried to make this look all old and 80's like to kinda fool ya, but my camera phone sucks... obviously. |
![]() |
| Classic Prom pose. You're. Welcome. |
![]() |
| This is suppose to be the... "I am awkward and in High School and don't know how to pose for a prom picture" pose. We were going to MORP--the more casual prom if you couldn't tell. |
If I'm absent in the coming days... it's because I'm trying to catch up from missing work and stuff.
If you have an 80's picture to link up to or have a bad 80's prom story... don't hesitate to share.
We may or may not have done inappropriate things in the back seat of his car... just sayin.

I think my kids made me prettier
We moved our storage unit stuff into the garage. It saves us a hundred bucks.
I went through things we haven't needed for four years and just gave them away, made it so we could get rid of our storage--okay my husband did a lot of it, but still, it was done.
One of the things we found when we were going through the totes is an old video camera. It is one of those cameras that shot with a small tape, the kind that fit into a VHS tape and then that is how you watched what you recorded was by sticking it in the VHS player.
Anyway...we still had in the case the VHS tape holder and a bunch of tapes. We stuck one in entitled, "The birth of Peeps".
OMGOsh you guys, nostalgia washed over me as I watched the miracle of having my second child, along with hours after when my three year old boy (now 8) came in to see his little sister for the first time.
Adorable doesn't even describe it. Beautiful? Incredible? Goose Bumps kind of moment still doesn't put into words what I was feeling watching that old video. The minute my little boy said, "I'm a brudder" as his big blue eyes looked up at his dad, I could have died right then and been happy.
But, on the opposite side of that, I didn't look so hot. Sure I had just had a baby. But I looked...well, like me, but a more still-trying-to-find-myself me. Ya know? It was weird.
The next tape was the first two years of my marriage. Moments and times spent with family on campouts and vacations. I was so NOT ME. Does that make sense? I watched and felt like I was watching someone else... but knowing it was me. (Don't get me wrong, I felt I looked okay back then living in the moment--) I felt more like I was watching myself still trying to discover myself. Young for sure, but not young and totally gorgeous like a lot of young girls are now... no, I was young and cute but, homely? My husband liked me without makeup, so I'm sure I was convinced that natural beauty was the way to go for me... ha! Or I was just lazy. Or I was camping so there was no need for makeup... thank goodness I learned the importance of makeup and how it can enhance features--but also things such as washing my face and taking pride in what I dressed myself in.Not that I didn't before.
Crap. This is getting hard to explain.
I look at myself now, and videos, and just things and I feel that I have filled in all the missing parts? Does that make any sense.
I feel more beautiful.
I believe my kids made me prettier. After having my kids I feel more like myself. More understanding of taking care of a person, which includes myself. Deciding that being a good example to them was key to helping them become better people MADE me look at myself and take better care of myself... working out, eating right, continuing to learn, discovering new talents and helping them grow, not giving up when I want to, committing more to who I am spiritually so they have someone to anchor themselves to. All these things adding up to a better me which shows in all of me, physically, mentally, spiritually.
It's crazy.
And hard to explain.
But I just feel now, more me. It may be age and maturity or just that I'm actually finding or have discovered that I have found myself.
I feel prettier. And maybe on a good and very bold day, I'd venture to say sexy.
Okay so now what do you have to add? Do you agree with me? Or think I'm blowing steam out of my nose holes?

Creepy Story and Scare them Video!
As much as I said in one post that I don't believe in Ghost or Paranormal activity... I actually do. The reason?
I've had stuff happen.
Creepy stuff.
Like, awhile back I fell asleep on the couch in our family room watching T.V. My husband woke me up I'm sure to come to bed and then went into the bedroom and proceeded to fall asleep, where I drop dead as soon as he left the room.
So about two in the morning I get woken up by what I THOUGHT was my daughter. A girl off by the door to the hallway that went to the rooms was just standing there staring at me. Since it was dark I tried to rub my sleep heavy eyes to see her, again what I thought was my daughter, more clearly. I said, "What, PeePs? What do you need honey?" And then the figure just faded away.
It was creepy... and I jumped up off the couch and ran into my room and woke my husband up as I shoved myself next to his warmth and said, "I just saw a girl standing in the family room and it freaked me out. Please hold me!"
He flipped me over to my other side, cuddled up next to me, wrapped his arm around me and said, "I'm sorry baby," as he sleepily drifted off into a snoring slumber.
So I believe.
And as I've told you before, I scare super easy. I rarely scare people back, because I hate the feeling of getting scared myself. But for a game I did in blogland I was suppose to scare someone as part of the competition. So in true Halloween spirit and pranks... I bring back ME scaring my Mom and Son. No wonder people love to do it so much!
Hope you all have a Happy, creepy, scary Halloween!!!

She wants to be like me... ut oh!
I walked into my house after a long, tiring day at work.
Walked isn't really a good term for what I was doing.
I was more... dragging myself into my home.
Anyway.
I get down stairs. And laying on my love sac is my black heels, skirt and scattered haphazardly around it was my jewelry. As I continued to stare at what was suppose to be my family room, but looked like a tornado had touched down, I smelled my Love Spell by Victoria Secret body splash.
Usually at this point, I flip. Sometimes inside my brain and sometimes, unknowingly to me, I go wild eyed crazy out loud. It's like this outer body experience and although I know I may be toeing the line of being committed into a insane asylum, I can't stop myself. I bark orders and get red in the face and turn into a HUGE, UGLY, Monstrous thing. It's not pretty.
But that day.
Well, it hit me.
My little girl wants to be like me.
This beautiful, independent, absolutely funny and persistent little girl... who is incredible just the way she is... wants to be like ME.
But I don't want her to. I don't want her to mimic me, because along with the wonderful being I am... and I understand I am worth modeling to a point, I have these flaws about me that I don't want her to ever have.
I know I can't control that.
But I panicked.
You see. She's completely and innocently confident in herself. She loves how she looks, she's funny, she cares about everyone, she hates when people are sad she is an empathetic crier, she is a great helper, she's bossy in a good I'm a leader sort of way, and best thing about her is-she could care less what people thought of her. If they don't want to be her friend or they don't like her she figures they are losing out.
And you know what?
She's right.
I sat down on my couch, absently moving princess high heels over, and became a bit overwhelmed by the idea.
So I've decided. I want to be more like her, and in return, she will end up being just herself! So I will start studying and modeling who she is.
My only problem is going to be fitting into her heels and skirts... but the jewelry should fit just fine. :)
So how did you react when you realized you child wanted to be just like you? Am I just a dorky parent or what?

SciFi Dad interviewed me... over embellishes much?
HELLO!!!
First of all. Your. Welcome. for leaving that Marshmallow post up for TWO whole days!
If you weren't in LOVE with me before, you have to be now!
It's the HUGE cheeks that get me every time... and then when I take the Mallows out, the cheeks look the same size!
Anyway--one of the contestants Grasshoppa's husband gets on the end of hers and says something like, "I've never been more attracted to her in my life"! HA!
I bet that was what my husband was thinking while holding that backdrop for me and counting.
Sigh--It's that kind of love where people look at ME and then look at HIM and then think, "HUH!? Love IS blind". (I'll only admit this once, he's the hotter one!)
Princess Sarcasm won with 17 MALLOWS--17!!! (there is a joke there somewhere, but I'm not touching it).
Okay okay!
I got on to tell you I GOT INTERVIEWED by SciFi Dad. He totally mocks me guys. And let me say, FTR, he's one of those writers that kinda over flowers and enhances his writing-over embellishes! I know this because although the words I wrote on that interview were what I said, ... he twists them to his ADVANTAGE!
Typical male. AND typical interview-er.
It's hard to be famous. I'm just glad he recognized I AM famous (in my own mind) and interviewed me! He swears I asked to be interviewed...but it was more like I felt I needed to volunteer as a friend. I said something like, "If you have NO ONE else to interview, like NO ONE, like I am the LAST blogger alive... then SURE, I'll do it. Ya know, if you need someone...desperately."
What!? Are you accusing MUAH of overembellishing? PSHAW! Whatev.
You should go read it. And tell his readers that I'm NOT a crazy LDS girl! Go NOW--PLEASE! I'm BEGGING YOU! I've never needed the support of my peeps more than this interview at this time!
(hehehe, go if you want to.)

Way to GO younger self!!!
I've been married for a DECADE!!! Which means... I'm okay to die now.
I posted these picture last year... but they still hold true.
Here we are the day we got married 10 years ago: (We didn't have enough money for a REAL photographer...one thing I will always regret...what kind of even AMATEUR photographer gets red eyes???)

For my husbands birthday last year I wrote this HUGE post about all the things he does for me. (Really good read...)
And honestly...going back and reading it...I cried.
Now though, is a different scenario. It's our Anniversary!
From the beginning...my favorite thing about him is that to the outside world he seems laid back and an easy going guy...which he is--
But for ME(And close friends and Family)...he will get silly..like little boy silly...and do crazy things with me. I LOVE it. I married him because he pretty much made me smile everyday over something.
( These are some more fun pics I found of us...the BEFORE years!!!)

(And the AFTER marriage years!!! or more likely the NOW...because I didn't have enough time to rummage through old totes to find stupid film pics!!!)

All I'm saying is that 10 years and two kids later...I still feel like I'm getting to know him. He's my VERY best friend, my confidant, my lover, my co-conspirator, my happy place, aggravating, stubborn, prideful, and the love of my life for this one and the next.
Here's to a Happy, Sad, Crazy, Fun, stressful, and Emotional, yet incredible 10 year ride...
GAH I'm glad it never ends!!! :)

Just my feet...
So this is me... doing pretty much everything with me feet! LOL
Okay... I kid.
I'm not even close to this because I can still use my left hand.
But I have been practicing picking things up with my feet for as long as I can remember. It comes in really handy!!! :)
Have a good Halloween everyone!
This is slow and go, but it's getting better everyday!

Let's talk about clavicle's
Saturday i went on a bike ride with my hubs. We both had road bikes. We were going fast. i got close to the trail edge>>>inexperienced as I am...I freaked, I tried to correct myself and stop, I flipped instead> Landed on my shoulder and head and hip, my collar bone broke right in half.
I'm bed ridden.
This is not my x-rays, but this is pretty close to what it looks like, almost identical:

i can't give a 100% to everything.
So my mind has been everywhere! It doesn't seem to want to focus and I think it is because I'm stretching myself to thin...so to speak...
I'm still laughing everyday, my life is good and I'm happy, but I'm also tired, and maybe a little OVER giddy because I'm putting myself through some kind of psychotic training on how one can survive and be normal on little amounts of sleep.
I'm happy, but if I step back, I think those that I love most are suffering because I'm not 100% there. I'm maybe 50% there for them, on a bad day lower, on a good day higher...but it's not fair to them and its not good for me...at least I don't think so.
Its a balancing act that at one time I thought I was good at. Time for my real life, and real life responsibilities... and then time for my online life and making sure that I get around to see everyone and let them know that I do read them by commenting, because how else are you suppose to know?
I began blogging to make a life journal for friends and family of what was going on with us and our life, to stay connected.
Then I realized I could use it for an avenue of all the crazy things that I think about, laugh about, and want to spew about. It was great! I couldn't get enough... one post after another left my mind, through my fingertips, and out into the internet world.
Then I began to get my first comments from people I didn't know, validating how I felt, laughed at my stupid humor, and became, to me, close friends. I would email them, chat sometimes, and we would plan to meet each other because as they blogged about their lives I began to get to know them and love them. Meeting them has been such a special treat for me. You honestly feel like you are just getting back together with old friends, you have a bond, it's really indescribable unless you blog... it sounds funny when you try to explain it to people that don't blog, or hardly get on the internet for that matter, it sounds a little psycho to be honest... but it's real, it's people's inner thoughts connecting, connecting through personalities instead of body language and touch...there just isn't a word to call it or someone hasn't written a book to explain it or study it. There are relationships built... frienships, but through the internet, to someone who doesn't understand it, it doesn't seem real it seems fake.
And like real life there are those you connect more with then others for whatever reason.
I'm thinking about this out loud... because it is those people that I don't want to let down, because I am thinking about NOT doing my personal blog any longer.
It's just one to many things to handle on my plate at this time, for me, it is the last straw placed on the camels back before it breaks.
My family needs me to be there for them 100%, I can't seem to do it as well as the rest of you in balancing it. People have asked me how I do it all... quite frankly I DON'T. Something SOMEWHERE is lacking if I'm honest with myself...and like those Mom's that work out of the home like myself, we try to deny it, but it's true, you have to let something slide somewhere, sometime... because it's really impossible to give a 100% to it all, all the time. Sometimes it's my blogs, sometimes it's my work, and sometimes, I'm ashamed to say that it has been my family, and most importantly my husband.
So for now...it's this blog that I choose to let lay by the wayside. My love and interest of the human bond will keep me at Real World, I honestly love learning from everyone over there and am not quite ready to let that go and I don't have to write EVERYDAY, I get to read and listen as well. My random thoughts will be on Twitter or Facebook because it's the easiest and fastest way to get them out there and yet you still have the fun of people commenting back at you... And of course my photography blog... because it's my creative outlet.
I will still come around to visit you, but now there isn't the pressure of you feeling like you need to visit me, unless you want to... come over and join Real World Venus vs. Mars or my PlushMoments... because for a blog that is where I will be...other than that... laugh with me and make fun of me on the other two things... Twitter or Facebook :)
BTW--if you have followed me on twitter and I didn't follow you back, it's probably because I didn't recognize your Screen Name!!! So just email me and say, "HEY dork head! I followed you on twitter, this is my screen name @ipickmynose... so follow me back or ELSE!" I promise I will follow you! :)
And when it comes to FaceBook--if you don't want me to know your REAL name, then I can't let you know mine. Sorry, I don't have a BLOKTHOUGHTS facebook... it's my real name. So... sorry, but do you blame me?
I'm sorry... I'm not sure for what, but I am. I just can't do EVERYTHING even if I LOVE it and it makes me completely happy...
Love you all, email me at blokthoughts@gmail.com, chat with me when I'm on... I would love that... follow me somewhere else...my Yahoo Id (same thing applies to screen names on this one) is shelleblok add me if you'd like!

Who I was in high school...
Who I was in High School. Inspired by THIS post and THIS post.
You know guys... I KNOW I'm different because I'm older and have matured and been through stuff that just makes you change and grow up but high school for me was three things: dance, SCHOOL (like actually study), and social.
That's it.
I KNEW a lot of people, was invited to a lot of parties, could kind of adapt to whatever group I felt like hanging out with... but like I commented on the other two blogs that inspired me, I was more two dimensional, black and white, good and bad.
I loved me in high school. I was a nice person. I just didn't KNOW a lot hadn't experienced enough. I knew a lot about dance, I was pretty BOOK smart, but as far as the WORLD goes... I didn't really know a whole bunch. And I'm glad.
My voice was those who influenced me the most. My parents. I believed what they believed, that includes religion. I repeated what I had been taught to know and repeat... that is just how it went.
After a few times of getting caught doing the wrong thing in middle school I learned that getting into "trouble" took to much time and effort. So I did what my parents said, thought what they told me to think, and lived my life the best way I could with my boundaries.
I loved almost every minute of it, high school was good to me.
I crushed on boys... a lot. I had 3 REALLY close friends in High School and we would jump from one group to another never really staying or hanging with the same group of people. I learned to love my Father in Heaven. I trusted WAY to easily and was burned a lot because of it. I made Dance my life.

That was me.
That was who I was.
The thing that I wished was different was I wished I let people in more. Sure I made people feel that way, but I put on a front. I appeared ALWAYS happy, when in reality it was all a facade. I had normal emotions like everyone else, but I only allowed myself to show one emotion. My closest friends were the only ones that really KNEW me and I was okay with that.
I was happy to say that almost everyone I graduated with I hung out with at one time or another... I just LOVE people. And I'm still that way.
So although I liked who I was in high school, I would NEVER want to be her again though.
I love who I am becoming. I love that there are more dimensions to me... some shallow and some deep... but there nonetheless. I think more now when I speak to people (still working on that though); I smile more, I laugh harder, but I also get mad, sad, and I cry; I am a mom and LOVE being a mom (one a completely natural birth. Labor use to be one of my greatest fears) even when I get frustrated with it; I take pictures and continue to work at being and one day becoming a Professional Photographer; I work at a job that I have to listen to a co-worker tell me about her life and WO-BE-HER everyday because she needs me to; I married my best friend and continue to get to know him and who he is changing into; I blog and meet interesting people everyday who let me share a part of my life with them-because I NEED it, I have traveled and learned about other cultures and walked through dirty cities and small towns; I've fought when I felt like I needed to, I've bitten my tongue when I would have rather not, I've been passionate about certain issues and made my voice heard or debated; I've experienced death of a close one and birth with the ones I loved; I've compromised; I have a deeper understanding of my religion and am thankful that I was blessed to have it in my life and the peace and perspective it gives me; I'm definitely more curvy (my kids fault); I exercise and watch what I eat, most of the time, but still splurge when I'm really happy or really sad; I like to scrapbook but don't have time; I like to write and would one day like to write a Romantic Comedy novel :); and I adapt better to change.
There is just A LOT more to me now (that wasn't MEANT to be a fat joke)... and I hope in 10 years when I'm blogging through my brain into a blue tooth that then types it onto my blog... I hope my list is longer and I hope that I am better because I've grown and changed and learned.
What about you guys? Who were YOU in high school?

Something I swore I would never do!
Something I swore I would never do, that my parents did, was tell my kids they had to eat something they didn't want to eat.
I can't tell you HOW many times I sat across from my Mom for HOURS trying to see if I could out last her "just THIS time". I was stubborn. But NOT as stubborn as her. As I was getting food I didn't want to eat put in my mouth I remember thinking, "when I have kids I won't make them eat stuff they don’t want to eat."
I was at the dinner table last night and this is how things went:
PeePs: "I don't like broccoli"--note, the girl has eaten the stuff since she could pick it up and put it in her mouth. Both Cauliflower And Broccoli. So I was all kinds of frustrated from the very beginning and OUT comes the following conversation.
Me: "Well, to bad, you are going to have to eat at least one broccoli and one cauliflower. You might like them."
PeePs: Gets the pouty quivering chin look. "But I don't WANT to eat broccoli. My stomach doesn't like it."
Me: "Okay, that's OKAY. Don't eat the Broccoli. But you also can't have any COOKIE for dessert."
PeePs: Pout lip and real tears start to form. Her hands cross in front of her chest and she looks up at me from under her eyelashes.
Me: "Go to your room and pout. It isn't going to make a difference. You don't eat those on your plate and you don't get a dessert. Whether you cry about it or not."
This went back and forth with DCAR getting in the groove to try and help his sister out of the situation by offering butter and ranch and other condiments to assist her in "choking" it down for at least a 1/2 hour.
But she wouldn't budge.
I was getting bored of it and just wanted to move along that is why I am NO good at this kinda thing!
All of us finished eating and she was still in pouting position. Real tears had begun to flow silently down her cheeks.
And I knew EXACTLY what she was thinking as she stared at me like I was the WORST person on Earth!
MoutainSport Man got up and cleared some dishes, then began to divvy out the cookies. DCAR comes walking in eating one.
She eyed it and I KNEW I had her… so I compromised, something ELSE I said I'd never do.
Me: "If you take THIS bite of Broccoli and THIS bite of Cauliflower then you can have your cookie."
PeePs: Stands her ground. Until Bampa (traitor)picks up her fork and assists in putting the offending vegetable in her mouth by using AIRPLANE sounds no less. Then she began to LAUGH hysterically.
I went and grabbed her a cookie. As I set it down next to her plate I said, "Now eat the rest of your dinner before you eat that cookie".
I'm not gonna lie, I was feeling like a bit of a failure, until I pulled THAT one on her! :)
Okay now my question is… what is the thing YOU swore you would never do, that your parents did?
I think I'll join a random Tuesday posts tomorrow and name a bunch more. I have loads!!!
Hope you all had a good weekend. And if you missed THIS post over at REAL WORLD you missed some GREAT fun in the comments!
Go over there today… KRITTA is trying to become a baby making machine, poor girl, go give her some love!

Amaze...
I'm feeling kinda sentimental tonight.
I went on a flight up North to drop my son off for a football camp. It was a quick flight.
The plan was to take him in the morning, hang out with my sister and her kids for the day, and then fly home that night.
I got a slew of texts all day from MountainSport Man (MSM)--not normal. Some decent and some indecent, but all good.
The one I loved the most though. "When are you getting home? I miss you already". That was sent at 3 in the afternoon-- he SELDOM says stuff like that. I think I re-read it like 10 times.
When I got home this evening, I walked into the baggage claim area and there was My Guy.
Sitting there.
All by himself.
Waiting for me.
It had been less then 15 hours, but he was there to greet me when I got in, like I had been gone for weeks!
You see, he didn't need to be there. I drove myself to the airport and parked in 1 day parking.
Yet he had himself driven up to the airport so that he could drive me home.
It has to be one of the most romantic things he has done for me... because it was romance the way I like it... simple, small, yet such a moment of grandeur!!!
And I guarantee, I'll remember it always.
See I'm strange like that. I remember words and phrases because of how they made me feel. Those words or phrases once ordinary, become something extraordinary and special just to me, and between him and I.
One example of this is the word AMAZE...

I'm keeping my Brilliant ideas quiet next time!
We left our kids with their Aunt this week. WE thought it was about time they destroy someone else's house for a change.
In the mean time... I told my husband last week that I wanted to be more ORGANIZED.
I'm not even a LITTLE bit organized... I mean, I am one of those people that live in an organized mess but want to live more organized. (Don't worry folks it gets worse)
So every once in awhile, usually when my organized older sister comes to hang out with me, I get a spurt of an idea... a sliver of confidence that I can tackle my weaknesses and become a more organized person.
If you wait point 2 seconds it usually goes away.
In which case it did.
Only MountainSport Man seems to feel that it was a GREAT idea and that we would actually FOLLOW through with it while the kids were gone!
I've tried EVERYTHING bar getting nekked and throwing myself at him to distract him, and stop him from going through with this COMPLETELY insane idea I had.
I am now preparing myself for the LAST resort people, mentioned above, because he has been a SLAVE driver!!!
MY GUY: Let's just start with the closet.
Me: How about we eat first, or pick our toe nails, or, or, or...
MY GUY: Just tell me what you want to get rid of and what you want to keep, ok?
Me: Fine... hmmph...
Then he proceeded to do all the work while I said "yea" or "nay" to different articles of clothing.
Me: Yes, I want to keep that.
My Guy: but you haven't worn it in 3 years.
Me: Yea, but now that we have found it under all the other clothes I have the perfect idea of what it will go with!
My Guy: But you didn't even miss it and you have 4 others shirts that look the same just vary in shades of Black.
Me: But they are all different cuts!!! You never know which shirt will got best with which pair of jeans!
It was hard work people. Let me tell you.
Here is just a sneak peak of our shoes we had to sort through...
...just so ya'll know, more than HALF of those are HIS. He's a collector of shoes WORSE than I am!!!
Just saying...
Tomorrow he wants to tackle the armoire!!! EEECCCKKK!
Someone dial 9-1-1!!!

Flashback: So I found out something about myself!
This is my Flashback post. One of the first things I wrote about. I have been wanting to participate in ScaryMommy's FlashBack Fridays, but I'm already participate in something else, so I am writing this today and then linking up on FRIDAY for Scary Mommy's thing.
The smarts come all natural over here.
Published March 06, 2008:
I learned something about myself--
I was out to lunch with some co-workers (who invited me) and we were sitting there having a great conversation.
I commented how it was funny that sometimes when you talk to someone you see that person listening to you, but you know there mind is somewhere else, (growing up around my brother, Broadway, it doesn't really faze me all that much I was use to being ignored.) So I usually finish what I'm saying anyway and then ask them a question about themselves to bring them back into the conversation. (brilliant I know...)
BUT I also said I hate when there is a lull in the conversation...it's awkward to me...so I usually try to become the HERO and fill in the gaps, ya know, cause I'M never at a loss for words.
You know what they said after I mentioned these little quirks of mine? One girl said, "Shelle it IS hard to get a word in edge wise when you talk", and "You can carry on a whole conversation just with yourself!" the other girl flings at me with a surprised look on her face.
Oh NO THEY DIDN'T just say that??? I seriously sat there and had NOTHING to say!
I mean heck, I don't care what people say BEHIND my back because I truly believe in what I DON'T KNOW doesn't hurt me, but come on...(tell me if you silently agree, or forever shut your mouth), but wasn't that a tad bit RUDE to say to someone? When did petty girls lose their tact? :)
Luckily I am not easily offended or I might have said something I later regretted...since I tend to talk before I think
Okay, all of my "FRIENDS" (and I'm using that word lightly right now), why did nobody say anything to me about this apparent problem I have!
I am telling you the truth when I say that I have never heard this before! I really would have rather heard it from someone that knows me, then hearing it from people that I'm not quite sure really even LIKES me.
Oh well *shrugs* I'll try harder not to dominate our conversations in the future but I can't make any promises!
I wonder if they will invite me back to lunch?
***Just so you know, they did invite me back to lunch with them, MULTIPLE TIMES, and I made sure I allowed each one of them to ask ME a question so that they felt like they were involved somehow in the lunch conversation! hehe!
QUESTION: Anybody ever throw a FAULT at you to your face like that? What would you have said? Just curious!

Guess where I've been?
Okay... if you feel like I have been slightly neglectful in comments lately it's because....
I've been down to the Happiest Place On Earth for a few days! Who ever came up with that... LIED... just saying...
Do you feel cheated? That I just up and snuck down there for two days? Didn't even leave a note telling you where I was?
No worries... I'll make up for it...
Monday's post will be about things I learned while at Disneyland.
But for today... I'm beat, exhausted, tired...
So you get my fav pic!!!
Tell me ONE thing that is consistent with Disneyland?
Waiting in line.
This was me 1/2 the time.... holding the little bit or giving her a piggy back!!!
Have a good weekend everyone!

Shelle

Not so Serious Sunday--He has a Sweet Spirit...
***Update***-- I'm leaving this post up for Monday so that EVERYONE can enjoy the Sexy People Love!!! :) Seriously check out Today's post... MARCUS!!! I love my computer to, but seriously, that is taking it TO far! lol!
your. welcome! So if you have already read this post... Take a break--see ya tomorrow!!!
Since I posted a Serious Monday... I thought I would shake it up for Sunday.
When I was single, and was asked out by a guy, I rarely said No.
For a few reasons.
First of all... the guy had the guts to ask in the first place.
Secondly... when I wanted to say NO... I didn't have the heart to do it... I have a weak, guilt ridden heart.
Even if I did say No and was smart enough to come up with a good excuse why I couldn't go out with them, like: 'I'm sorry Joe, I can't do anything for the WHOLE month because I have to work some CRAZY hours so when I'm not working, I'm sleeping... catch me next month k?'
Then I'd feel so bad for stretching the truth that Karma would turn around and bite me in the butt and I'd be SO busy working that I'd get home and sleep and my social life would be non-existent. Then next month they would hit me up again and so I just ended up making my life worse and prolonging the inevitable!
Plus I suck at lying...it's written all over my face.
Thirdly... Someone else was paying for my food for the night...
My favorite thing after a date would be when people asked me how it was and how the guy was.
If I thought he was FUNNY and charming but wasn't attracted to him I would always say, 'he's got a sweet spirit'.
I think if I would have dated in the 80's I would have said that A LOT. :)
These pics prove it -- Fritz, Bobby, Greg and Valerie, and Robbie ... I'm obsessed with this blog BTW!!!
And I'm pretty sure Craig looks exactly like someone who bought me my first dozen roses... but that's not why I think poorly of flowers, really it's not.
Oh stop... you can't tell me you didn't laugh... and you can't tell me you didn't date any "Sweet Spirits" so get off your pedestal.
And no worries people... I'm pretty sure I was someone's SWEET SPIRIT... these things always go full circle.
Hope you had a good weekend!
Love,
Shelle

I think my husband is prettier than me!
Okay, I had an experience over the weekend that MUST be shared and MUST be discussed.
I was shopping at WalMart aka WallyWorld aka WalMarts aka the store one step below Target.
MountainSport Man was with me.
Go figure.
We were checking out, minding our own perfectly oblivious business...
The Checker, nice lady named Barb, said her Hi to us.
I looked at my husband and said, "Hon, do you have your card handy?" Because mine was in my purse underneath ALL the groceries...why I put it there? I don't know? It's just one of those habits that is hard to break (It's a HARD habit to break...come on, SING IT WITH ME--you know you love Chicago).
MSM: "Yea, here I got it"
Barb the Checker: "Oh!" looking surprised! "Are you guys...oh...your married?"
Me: Giving her a DUH look.
MSM: Giving her a woman-your-crazy-if-you-think-I-would-deal-with-this-girl-if-I-wasn't-married-to-her look.
Barb the Checker: "WOW...you guys have picked up each other's characteristics. You look similar."
Me: Giving her the whatthewhat?-you-did-not-just-say-that-I-looked-like-a-guy look.
MSM: Starts to smirk.
Barb the Checker: Looks at me and then starts back pedaling, with a sweet as honey smile she says, "I mean to say, you guys compliment each other...a very good looking couple."
I just smiled. My husband THANKED her for the compliment.
We bought our groceries and started walking out to the parking lot.
My husband being, my husband, turned to me with a smart smirk on his face and said, "So...do you think she was saying I was getting prettier? Or you were getting more handsome?" pause... "I think she was saying I was getting prettier..."
In her defense...and for the sake of my pride... I was wearing a hat, hadn't showered, and my natural beauty wasn't shining through (I'm sure).
Either that...or I should be worried that my husband is prettier than me.
He DID buy designer jeans that looked freaking HOT on him a few weeks ago.
This one is pretty recent, self photo, and yea don't know why I looked freaked out here... my hubby is 30 pounds heavier here, I think he would like me to make note about that, he's pretty vain about it...
Hmmmm... can't tell with the sunglasses really... maybe that was her trying to tell me I had a 5 o' clock shadow?
No, not possible...I just got waxed... :)
Okay...now this one freaks me out a bit...
What does that MEAN? I wonder when my hubs and I are holding hands or necking in the parking lot if incest comes to people's minds?
Oh my GOSH, I gotta go, I just threw up in my mouth.
Anybody else out there get this? Am I alone? Please tell me I'm not getting Handsome-er!
Love,
Shelle
P.S. Hope y'all had a good weekend!
P.S.S. If you got time, go check out the most recent post at The Real World Venus vs. Mars...and then do yourself a favor and FOLLOW cause we are having some GREAT discussions over there...it's like our OWN suburban neighbor hood where we BBQ on our street and the kids are running around being crazy and the Adults are chatting away tuning them out! It's GREAT!

LIVE: Dancin' with PeePs
I was going to post some random video blog about something as important as finding the right SONG to go with your friends.
I know...I'll definitely explain that one later.
But I have to tell you what kept me busy last Friday.
My daughter, PeePs, decided that she liked seeing herself on Video.
All Friday I got, "Mom, can we dance again? So I can see my hands and face again?"
You see...I was working on the computer...editing photos...when she came to sit on my lap and watch.
So I made the mistake got the opportunity to show her what iMovie can do.
We were sitting there and I pulled iMovie up and she was ENTHRALLED.
THe girl LOVES to look at herself. Remember when I posted the video of her dance recital, and I believe she didn't know the dance because she paid more attention to the mirror then to the teacher?
Yea...well I pulled up my iTunes and we started jammin' to one of my favorite feel good songs by MIKA, LOVE TODAY.
Then we made another and another and another...and each time we did it I got more crazy...I think I started enjoying it even MORE than she did! lol! My only excuse is that I was tired and doing ANYTHING I could to get myself out of cleaning and laundry.
I look like a complete idiot...it was cleaning and laundry day so I look the part...but I had to show you my girl in ALL her chocolate face glory and her fascination with herself on video...it cracks me up!
I want you to know this wasn't choreographed...completely impromptu...
