See Mom Smile shows me the way... if you want to help...

I was reading in my reader and found THIS POST by See Mom Smile... who I have met in person btw... and I thought that I'd pass on her awesome message, although, you should read her post because it's better and way more informative.

But basically, I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I pay my tithing and this is where some of it goes to. I love that because I know no matter the disaster, in some way, I have been a part of helping it.

You, however, don't have to be Mormon, or LDS, or pay your tithing to donate to the LDS Charities who is a major part of ANY disaster and in a lot of the cases, first to respond with help.

Here's the LINK again. It's a charity you know your money WILL be put to helping those areas greatest hit by the Japan Disaster and any other disaster that comes along... which is inevitable.

Hope you all have a good weekend!

It's my son's 9th birthday and so I have to go party with him right now... I'll leave you with a little treat he and his sister did for St. Patty's Day yesterday...

Your. Welcome.  And YES my kids are super rad!

Happy Holidays... my card to you...

Hello out there!!! I wanted to send you each a card in the mail, but I understand having a relationship/friendship with you online doesn't warrant asking for your address... so instead I made you a card from our family!

Thanks so much for coming by and being my friends... I really do appreciate it and love the friendships I have made and that you guys read whatever I write... no matter how painful my grammar is.

So we blew THAT fairy tale out of the water!

So Saturday I coherced my younger brother into taking our family pictures for us. There is a reason I stay behind the camera... I do a lot better behind the camera.

But for some odd reason I had it in my mind that MY family would be a bit different with pictures. That my kids wouldn't get bored after the first spot we shot, that they would smile and not make goofy faces, that we would all look right at the lense so that we could be fast and quick. That I would be creative since I've shot Upteen different families and they all have their own cute ideas of what pictures and settings they like...

Let's just say we blew that fairy tale out of the water.

My kids were climbing over everything and picking on each other. My husband couldn't open his eyes dreamy hazel green eyes for the life of him, they are sensitive, and he had a hard time looking straight at the camera... even I had a hard time keeping my smile or making it seem real!!!

My brother, however, loves to shoot Candid... and luckily he got us some that worked or fit our personalities!

I mean look at us... we are waiting for him to get the "right angle" he said... look at us all... I look like a mannequin, my boy looks silly, my girl looks bored, and my husband looks like he's ready to kill someone... probably me! :)

No creativity here... if you saw our last year's picture you'll recognize that this is our exact same pose.  We seem to rock the straight in a line all our faces together pose.

So my brother was like... okay, just be your normal selves... so we were--I think this is the best picture yet!!!

Now... all I need to do is get addresses of everyone special enough to receive such an awesome picture of us for the HOLIDAYS!!!

So how was your weekend? If you'd like a picture of us for the Holidays to grace your refridgerator send your address to my email at blokthoughts@gmail.com.

Next year I think we should skype!

So our Thanksgiving was a blast. For the first time in, well a long time, my whole family was here. All of my brothers and sisters and their families. There was a lot of eating, and laughing, and tons of fun. Maybe also some bloating and napping and tons of fun...

As you can see in these pictures below taken of my kids and nieces and nephews:

I just had to add this in here because my daughter seriously wants a career in fashion and modeling so I told her to pose for me and this is what I got... lol... I hope it works out for her because, I may be bias, but I think she has that something special :)... PASSION! hehe.

My 13-year old niece and the oldest of the bunch... that makes me super old... sigh... she's one of my best friends, love the heck out of her.
So here's the thing. We had SUCH a good time during Thanksgiving.  My cup filleth over with happiness to be around all of my family... I'm a big family person.

There is only one negative that came out of all of this and will change my way of thinking of having family over ever again...

Come Sunday when everyone left... we all got sick.  The 24 hour flu bug.  EVERYONE of us.  23 in all.  From baby to Grandparents.  We all got hit with it from Sunday to Tuesday.

I didn't have it on Sunday... which was convenient for my family because I became their nursemaid aka slave for a full 24 hours.  THAT's HARD work!!! Just saying.  They were throwing up out of their mouths and out the back end.  It was bad.

Then come Tuesday, if you follow me on Facebook (which you should) you would know that I was sick, sick, sick.  I haven't been that sick in FOREVER.  I didn't eat anything, I was afraid to. Everyone was working and going to school so I had to suffer it alone.  Moaning to myself... you know how sad it is to moan to yourself???  It's sad, take my word for it.

So as much as I love my family I think Skyping Thanksgiving to be together next year might be the way to go... just a suggestion.

So anything exciting happen with you guys???  How bad did you feel for me when you read I had to moan alone???  Don't hold back... tell me in comments.

You guys are Debbie Downer's for Valentine's for real!

So I LOVE valentines day.

Plus all you all are saying you hate it... and let's just say... I could never hate it.

And we need some positive light shed on this lovely day.

WHy is it so bad to think about love or romance or anything like that? It's not that bad of a deal. Everyone loves SOMEONE right? Best friend, family, lover, spouse... whatever.

But that isn't really why I love Valentine's Day. Nor is the fact that I L-O-V-E Romantic Comedies that roll out around this time of year...

Sidenote: I should mention here that my hubs kinda has it bad. We have our Anniversary, Valentine's, and well another special day where someone gets one year more mature! :) And so ROMANTICALLY Valentine's day get's thrown in the wash... come to think of it... all three usually do, but attempts are made at the Anniversary and the OTHER one... but not Valentines... except for the one Valentine's where I totally got a love letter. I kid you not! I might have screamed and cried and begged for it. But it was one of the most beautiful things ever received EVER in my life and I still have it to this day folded up in my scriptures. True Story. WORDS the written word... goes a long way for me. I married someone that hates to write... go figure.

But I love Valentine's mostly because of the candy and baked goods.

It's true. My love of holidays falls in order and priority of what candy and baked goods gets dished out that time of year.

For instance:

THese lovely Little Debbie treats are bought by the 10's and in WareHouse amounts at my house.

and then there is Rocky Mountain Caramel Chococlates. They are served year round, but we only get them this time of year.

And the Conversation Hearts. I LOVE them... especially the old ones, not the new sweet tart ones but the older ones... yum.

And SOUR balls.

And Heart shaped Reese's Peanut Butter things.

And cinnamon hearts.

And cinnamon anything.

and...and...and...

Red is one of my most favorite colors. Plus I look mostly good in it. Well I did with my brunette hair.

I don't know.

Just doesn't seem like a bad day to me.

Plus... I'm going to teach my kids how to put a Valentine's on a fishing pole string and go knock on their friends doors and we run and hide and when their friends answer the door and go to pick it up we are going to slowly reel it in to keep it out of their reach... and then drop on the ground and roll around laughing and pointing our fingers!

OH first challenge is up at BLOGVIVOR... I have to write a poem... I SUCK AT POEMS. Secretly pass me your creative poems and if I win you get half the loot! I'll be posting about the challenge as soon as I make what it says I'm suppose to make (a Valentine)... Scissors... glue...sniffing glue... should be a blast. I'm going to VLOG most of my entries... I bet you guys are SUPER stoked about it also!

Later, Have a good or sucky Valentine's day...depending on your view!

Guess where I've been?

Okay... if you feel like I have been slightly neglectful in comments lately it's because....

I've been down to the
Happiest Place On Earth for a few days!  Who ever came up with that... LIED... just saying...

Do you feel cheated? That I just up and snuck down there for two days? Didn't even leave a note telling you where I was?

No worries... I'll make up for it...

Monday's post will be about things I learned while at Disneyland.

But for today... I'm beat, exhausted, tired...

So you get my fav pic!!!

Tell me
ONE thing that is consistent with Disneyland?

Waiting in line.

This was me 1/2 the time....
holding the little bit or giving her a piggy back!!!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Port-a-Potty's... I picked door number 3!

Well Memorial Day was filled with the Lake and Jet Ski's and…

Great Scenery

And cute little people that warm my heart…

And people that make me laugh…

And my WHITE legs, arms, and face…

I was a good girl, I put sunscreen on EVERYTHING but my legs.

Why did I forget my legs you ask?

I got DISTRACTED… my niece needed it on her and asked if I would help her… and then… well let's just say you could FRY an egg on the heat coming off of my SO-SAD bright red skin.

I did learn, however, that I actually LIKE the water to be choppy when cruising/speeding along on a Jet ski. You can get some air! Hehehe… a lot of fun! So glad my BIL invites us along! :)

But you HAVE to know that it is DUE time for a bathroom story.

No worries. This one involved a Port-a-Potty!

I'm honestly SCARRED for life. In fact, I have recurring nightmares while I'm AWAKE.

When we get to the Lake we park in the designated parking area. I see a bathroom facility… but is CLOSED down. All there is, is THREE Porta-Potty's off to the side.

I think to myself, "So glad I don't have to go to the bathroom". Fate would prove otherwise. Of course!

Well, bouncing around on a Jet Ski, drinking two water bottles full of water, an apple, and a couple of handfuls of pistachio's later (that I had to de-shell myself…UGH) I honestly couldn't HOLD it or there would be severe consequences.

So I trudge through the unforgiving sand, uphill, to reach the port-a-potty's.

OH MY GOSH/GADNESS/insert expletive here… (I should have taken a hint when I saw that people had peed on the rocks and weeds around the port-a-potty's) first one I open… someone had PEED in the part where you should be able to wash you hands, if for some reason you had WATER to wash your hands with… lift the seat? FILLED! I know guys--I dry heaved also. So I high tail it out of that one.

Hop over to the next one. Someone had an accident ALL over… just all OVER!!! Yea… that time I threw up a little in my mouth. Wasn't going in there.

Last one… NO TOILET paper… but it wasn't FILLED to the top… so that was a plus. So I braved my way back over to the First one and grabbed the toilet paper. Then I had to rely on my thighs to keep me away from the disease infested toilet seat because I wasn't trusting that toilet paper. I was already going to have to use the bare minimum to wipe… and I'm sorry to have to get this out, but I didn't just have to pee which is why I even had to tough my way through that or I would have held it… BELIEVE ME.

I mean, you guys are probably infected with something just reading this.

It was horrible… and I showered for at least a 1/2 hour.

But the BBQ later that night made up for it! :) Okay, not really. But the food was good.

How did you guys fair yesterday?

Love,

Shelle

It makes me feel good... to know that MY GUY isn't the ONLY one that procrastinates!!! :) Isn't that HILARIOUS!!! Hey, at least they are doing it! It shouldn't matter WHEN right?

Happy Mother's Day girls!

The Easter Bunny is a jerk.

Okay Easter...Just random stuff I thought I would share.

I'm talking about the Easter Bunny not the religious part of it.

Okay.

First off. For our Annual City Easter Egg hunt.

It was raining.

But I forged ahead because I'm a cool Mom...or maybe they think I'm a Mom that torture's them...either way, I was going to give my kids that WONDERFUL Easter Egg Hunt experience, where you run at full speed for the eggs that are going to get you prizes hoping that you aren't breaking anybody else's bones but not caring if you do.

So as we rush to the park to make it to the Easter Egg Hunt because we had 5 minutes until start time (yea, I'm horrible with time...don't judge me!) and I'm preping my kids to find the BIG eggs cause they are more than likely going to have cool prizes in them, I'm realizing it might have been smart to grab the umbrella because I don't think my video camera is water proof!

My husband and son stay at his area and I run my girl over to her area.

Some sweet lady shares her umbrella with me. I looked like a drowned rat...a really pathetic drowned rat, not even in a cute drowned rat sort of way like on the SPIDERMAN movie where they have that kissing scene in the rain and the Spiderman kisses lead girl upsidedown...no, I looked pathetic enough that a lady didn't even ask, but just stood by me with the umbrella over me.

and Yes...I thanked her.

They started counting down...I leaned over to my daughter and said, "Okay PeePs, just run as fast as you can and fill up your basket!" all sweet in a dripping with honey sort of way. I'm hoping she read between the lines, because that was really code for, 'You better get an egg with a prize or don't come back!'

Then they were off...I tried to follow her around with the camera...yea RIGHT!!!

I should have trained her better...instead of actually staying in one area and sucking up everything around her, she flitted, FLITTED, around and daintily picked up one candy and then FLITTED a little farther down and DAINTILY picked up another candy.

I think I lost her like 6 times.

Neither of my kids got any eggs just the candy.

When we got home and dumped out the rest of the loot...we found that ALL of that sacrifice in the rain, the rush, the drowned rat, the flitting around and getting nothing noteworthy...my CITY gave my kids OLD valentine and christmas candy.

What the WHAT???

On top of that...I have been off sugar for like 9 weeks. I was going to allow myself one day, EASTER, to eat sugar.

I thought FOR SURE the Easter Bunny, knowing me as he does, would get me my favorite treat...Peanut Butter M&M's (for the protein of course). Come Easter morning...no Peanut Butter freakin M&M's.

So the Easter Bunny is a jerk.

I ate sugar though...I showed HIM! In fact, I ate SOOO much sugar I was in a state of coma for an hour in the middle of the day. On the Love Sac. With my mouth hanging open. And chocolate all over my mouth.

So how was your Easter?

Love,

Shelle

This is how they REALLY looked on Halloween! :)

Okay...the picture of ME in my slutty burlesque costume was taken by my MOM on her camera...so I don't have it!

I know...BOOOOOO!!!

And my husbands TEETH...handsome, sexy, vampire teeth didn't work! AS IF...so he went as a Gorilla! So I just imagined him as Jacob...I had to squint my eyes...

But in Reality...I have my OWN Jacob everyday... because my husband is part Indian...and he's warm, and strong...I know, I'm totally lucky! :)

I did, however, get pictures of my kids!

Here is my Fairy Princess...

I had to make sure to get a picture of what her make-up looked like. Hello...I was a genius...I think I missed my calling...I should have been a Make-Up Artist!!!

If this picture didn't make you jump...then I don't know what will!

I would've taken lots of pictures of DCar in his Grim Reaper outfit...but there is only so many poses...he did tell me that he was making a VERY SCARY face behind that mask!!!

The Grim Reaper was getting a little violent!

I think this is what maybe irritated the Grim Reaper...the Princess Fairy's wings kept getting in his way! He promises he was smiling in this photo! Oh and my husband did her make-up for the NIGHT...so who did a better job?

Wait....

Don't answer that...I don't want my husbands feelings hurt!!!

THIS is a Trunk-or-Treat! They are FABULOUS...and I think there should be state laws making this the NORM and STANDARD for all Trick-or-Treaters...promise, if you keep an open mind...you will realize the logic!

K---she's just adorable right?

She has such natural long eye lashes...that she kept getting streaks of mascara underneath her eyes...I only Dream I had this problem!!!

Here is PeePs and DCar with the newest cousin Oaks! I'm not quite sure what she is...but she's dang cute!!!

We had a good time!

NOW...those of you who like playing along on MONDAYS for my Don't You Hate It When contests have a NEW prize to go for...think QUILT and AMAZON.com!!! I think you'll like it! So get your POSTS ready...and remember everyone...this is all in GOOD fun!

I do this so you have a chance to just post something silly and inventive...it can be real or not real...just something to make others laugh!!! The prizes are COOL and worth entering a post for! If you don't win...try again the next week! Tomorrow I'll explain more about asking people to please READ the posts and vote on the FUNNIEST one...but I also love that people are rallying their forces or FAMILY behind them to vote also!!!

But basically...have
FUN WITH IT PLEASE!!!

This is KINDA how we are going to look tonight!

OKay...since I dont' have my OWN pictures of what we look like for Halloween...and I am in charge of my SON'S School Halloween party...(I know, I'm new at the WHOLE pressure "Will you be the ROOM MOM thing...it only is this and this"...THING) So go ahead and laugh all you MORE experienced MOM's ...either way, I don't have time!

So I went for SLUTTY Burlesque... like this

Except I'm not a nurse...and this is NOT my party that is being held...I just liked the picture because it looks EXACTLY like me! :)

This is DCar's costume...after weeks and weeks of trying to decide what to be...he caves and goes for LEAST creative...the GRIM REAPER! Bleh...but the kid was SO excited I couldn't make him feel TOO bad!

PeePs looks like this...except totally different...the only thing that's the same is the leg warmers, tutu, and hair...everything else is changed! But we are calling her a Fairy Princess! :)

And this is what MountainSport Man is going to be...it was easy...we made his skin WHITER...put in some FAKE fangs...and spiked his hair. Put a name tag on him that says, "I'm Shelle's Edward...get your own!"

Okay...scratch the name tag...but that might be a really GOOD idea...so I might actually do it...if I do, I'll get a picture. But he is going as Edward...

Can't fault a girl for wanting her VERY OWN blood sucking vampire for a day???

Can't wait to see what YOU guys came up with!

Oh...BTW...I actually am a FINALST for THIS contest...Go click on my name "SHELLE" if you like my story best (which, of course, you will)

SO GO VOTE FOR ME...because if you don't, then I will be ashamed that I'm not as POPULAR as I think I am...don't make me actually PAY for a therapist...that would just be sad! :)

Why I don't much care for Halloween--what the linky love?

Like the header says, "I'm TRYING to win another contest!"--focus on TRYING. I enter so many contest it kills me...my husband finds it humorous...but unlike the lottery, I always feel I have a chance...except for those that use the stupid Random Integer thingy they find on the internet...I curse that thing or whomever came up with it...I NEVER win...it has something against me.

So I have a strategy...I try to enter things with 10 or less people entered...or enter contests where I have to be smart or creative and they pick depending on ability(okay I never win those either)...such as MY COOL CONTEST I hold every Monday! :) lol! I kill myself! Or the odds have to be in my favor...anyway, Insane Mama is having a contest...not sure when it ends...but I get more points if I enter a Halloween post...hence the post title--but because I have NO idea when it ends I went over to her site to see if she might have announced the winner of the unending contest...but she hadn't, and now there is like 90 entries...so I have gone against all I believe...I'm entering a BIG contest AND it's Random! Freak!

I'm going to tell you why Halloween is NOT my favorite Holiday...I'm probably going to lose some followers over this...and I KNOW that one of Hugh Hefner's bunnies on Girls Next Door will look down upon me also...but this HAS to be said. Not EVERYONE can love this holiday right? There has to be others like me!

If you read my recent MEME-YOUYOU post...on number 1 it states that I scare easily. This alone should make you understand why I don't really care for Halloween. I HATE...HATE scary movies/horror films. They give me a creepy, evil feeling...and I miss half the movie anyway because I'm hiding behind the blankets. Part of that could stem from watching a marathon of America's Most Wanted when I was 10...not sure...but that could be some reason why I scare easily. The only thing I'm NOT scared of is Haunted Houses...Forests...whatever. I think they are dumb...but when I'm FORCED into going to them...I take some pleasure seeing other people scream...and then laughing at them!lol!

But what I hate more than ANYTHING and why I have fallen in LOVE with TRUNK OR TREATS is not only can I get the trick or treating done with two heaping bags full of candy in 60 minutes and be home before the sun is completely down...but I also can avoid walking up to houses where they have someone dressed up, sitting on the porch as if they are dead! I HATE those houses...I am terrified of them...and they make you look dumb because you sit there and contemplate if it's real or not...but the desire for the TREAT over powers your good since to RUN and you walk up to the door anyway...ever cautious of the DUMMY/REAL MAN ready to assault you, or at least scare the living day lights out of you! *shudder* I really hate those things!

When I was 10 or 11 I liked Halloween. (I can't remember now exactly what age I was...but I'll never forget the experience that turned me from this horrid holiday...but it was after the America's Mosted Wanted marathon for sure).
I was dressed as Pippy Longstocking. My mom loved dressing me as her...because I had the freckles and she made my hair stick out with a hanger that she masterfully snaked through my hair and colored with Red/Orange hair coloring.

This was back in the day when Trunk or Treats where not even a memory and you had to run/walk from house to house, knock on neighbors and strange people's door and say, "Trick or Treat" like a thousand times in the freezing weather.

This particular and fateful Halloween I was trick or treating with my brother and his friends. We were suppose to stay together...but I always liked to forge ahead and stake out the scary houses and then wait in the dark to watch my brother and his friends get scared...then I would laugh at them.

So I was by myself...walking up towards the next home...it was eerily silent except for the haunting, classical, Halloween music playing from the house. My Brother and his friends were quite aways behind me as I turned to check their status. I looked forward and proceeded on my way. As I usually was back then, and most of the time now as my husband would say, I was in my own little world...because I didn't see the fake dead man until it was too late. I looked up...and stared...frozen in my terror. The hanger holding up my hair begin to feel to small...my palms began to sweat even though it was freezing temperatures...and my mouth had fallen open. I only remember my mouth because I remember the desperate thirst for water. The fake dead man didn't move. I stood there for what seemed like forever. I tentatively whispered, "Trick or Treat"? But nothing. I became confused at what I should do...I NOW was not only scared but confused. Perfect America's Most Wanted images trickled through my brain of men snatching innocent girls and cutting their throats or kidnapping them for them to never see their parents. I took a step closer to see if I could see his chest moving...and he jumped up and lunged towards me while yelling in a deep voice"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!"

Forgetting about the candy I dashed away screaming as if I was going to die and ran smack dab into my brother and friends. Who were laughing at me because they had watched the whole thing.

I flipped my head in disdain and caught one of them in the eye...boowahahaha...okay i lied...I didn't, but what a great story if I did! :)

So I dislike Halloween...and fake scary men ready to scare young Pippy Longstockings!!! And boys...and....and...

Thanks Insane Mama for making dig up deep disturbing issues...

******************************************

Seriously Can't Believe it

May 26, 2008
Did not take the picture above...but let me just tell you my wonderful day...ummm...not! Okay, I LOVE Memorial Day because it's a holiday, which translates into husband having work off and us playing all day together with the kids.
Remember the post below...the WOE IS ME post? Good I had hoped you had forgotten about it. Well remember how I mentioned a little bad habit I have of PROCRASTINATING everything? Yea...everything...MountainSport Man can attest to that!
For my job we are suppose to get Turn Schedules out for the next month at least two weeks out! My job is flexible...I procrastinated as I do...and so I had to get up and go to work on this day, this HOLIDAY, that I get paid for anyway!
I had every good intention of getting up REALLY early and going to work so that I would be done before my family decided to do anything. On Sunday my cute nieces asked if I would take their pictures so their Grandma Viv would have an updated pic of them! So, being how I LOVE my new photography hobby I immediately agreed. I decided that I would be fine...that my work could get done on Monday...there would be no problem!
A couple of hours of happily snapping pictures my battery died...and NO I haven't gotten an extra battery yet. So we ended our session...I seriously could have snapped for much longer...I know...it's a sickness!
Then I HAD to edited some of them pronto...and plus they were excited to see how they turned out! So I spent the rest of the night and into the early morning hours editing and saving the pics to a DVD disk for them!

Here's just one...not bad eh? You can view the rest at my PlushMoments blog...they turned out great! Well at least I think so...

Well as you can probably guess...I got really tired...it was like 1 am when I got home...I should have just gone straight to work...but I was TIRED...so I went to sleep with every intention of getting up at 6 am.

I rolled out of bed at 7 something in the morning and headed to work...totally bugged that I couldn't get my lazy self up anyearlier...I must have pressed snooze on my phone but don't remember...so I had MSM (my back up alarm) grope, squeeze, and pinch me awake to get me out of bed!

I got to work and dug into it to finish and get the hubs their schedules. Yea, let's just cut this short and say that I worked all day until 4:30 pm while my daughter lay sick in bed, with her Mammy watching her, and my husband and son having an incredible time without me at the lake with his brother and family riding the new Sea Doo's!

I'm going to try and Salvage this Memorial Day by eating away my jealous-s-ness with a big fat Angus Burger! YUM...I'll hopefully burn it off tomorrow!
