My Trash Can of Thoughts Friend(s)-- am I the only one?

Do any of you have a good friend over the internet?

And you ONLY know them over the internet?

That's it.

But you are, what you might think of as, really good friends?

Wait, if you're reading this then more than likely you are a blogger?  And even MORE likely you have this kind of "friend"?

Yea, well I have this friend(s) (it may be more than one... just sayin) over the internet... might be YOU, might not be. (You probably can guess if it's you)

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you feel like me sometimes.

I mentally dump so much onto this friend(s). I think of them as somewhat of a trash can for my thoughts. At times I feel so bad because I feel like I may overload them.

I have gotten so use to them being around, that if they are not I kinda feel, well, empty or lost or out of sorts.

I know they actually have lives but being "friends" over the internet kinda makes it seem like they actually LIVE IN the internet.

Does that make sense?

Like logically your brain realizes they have a life, and you read about their life, and you know it's out there, but this friend(s) subconsciously in your mind should always be yours and yours alone. Ya know? Because they are your special mental trash can. And because I haven't actually seen or met them in person I feel like they aren't really real... but the friendship is definitely real! Do you know what I mean? And you just know that if they up and moved right next to you that you would hit it off so well... ya know?

And even after the honeymoon stage of getting to know them online--you still manage to connect in a way that is hard to describe?

And sometimes it's scary to meet these kinds of friend(s) in Real Life because what IF they don't hold up to what you have created for them in your mind? Or what if they meet you and start laughing and think they are being punk'd because YOU don't add up to what they thought of YOU in THEIR minds, and then you lose the one person that was YOUR trash-can-of-thoughts?

Anyone still with me?

*tap* *tap* Anyone out there? Is this thing on?

Anyway--

little button

I need more trash-can-of-thoughts friends (to even out the trash load-because I have many thoughts) and so I thought I'd meet them in REAL LIFE first and THEN make them my "special" online friend, it seems less confusing that way.

Anyone up for the task?

But then again, I wouldn't trade the one(s) I have right now, and the possibility of meeting them is slim to none, so basically if you are up to hear my thoughts at any random time without warning please apply in my comment box by telling me the color of your teeth--that is an important detail.

Love,

Come Meet ME and free the prejudice!!!

I use to feel sheepish (I'm actually ashamed to say that) when I first started this whole blogging thing when I'd take actual time to drive to someone and meet them.

I can't tell you how I've been laughed at for making trips to attend bloggy get togethers.

"Now what are you doing up here" -one of my family members would ask.

"I'm going to meet some bloggers. Like a blogger get-together". I would say, somewhat sheepishly.

"Who are you going to lunch with?" a co-worker would ask.

"Some blog friends." I would say.

April, Me, T, and Tauna

My husband never mocked me (in front of my face)... he's cool to just let me do what I want... most of the time anyway ;) Shelle Edit: He even came with me to meet VAL!!! We had custard with her last weekend!!! I love you I love you!

Then after a few times these women, these INCREDIBLE women, became my really good friends...

And you know what? Why should I feel sheepish about meeting good friends?

Even the ones I haven't met in Real Life...I still think of them as really close friends--Like Kritta and Anjeny and Blogging Mama and Wendy and Chief and SO MANY OTHERS...

So what if I meet them in the blogging world? Does that make it silly? I guess that depends on how much you understand blogging?

So now I am not sheepish about it... in fact, I'm excited and probably over gush about it. I try to make as many things as I can and not look or seem like I'm a stalker.

I feel really lucky these ladies are a part of my life, truly. And it is so nice to walk into those things and hearing your name "Shellie!!!" (even though my name is actually Shelle, or Shell if that's easier-- I look past that:) and you get embraced with a big hug and a big smile!

This is Sherrie the PianoRunner who has an amazing piano CD she has out and we have tried to meet for SO LONG and finally got to last weekend at the GNO Sassy Scoops event.

Here are some others that I knew or met. Veronica, Sherrie, Amber, Annie, Motherboard, Kristina, and me.

You're missing out if you don't take the opportunity to meet those bloggers you love to read when you can. I'm just telling you.

Plus I want to convince you that I want to meet YOU, yes you, and you, ummmm...not you, OH! Yes...YOU FOR SURE! And when you meet me we need to have a picture taken so I can put it on my Shelle Blok's Facebook page under my famous "Bloggers I've Met" Photo Album.

Your. Welcome.

Let's stand against our prejudice of meeting "bloggers"--WHOSE WITH ME!!! (Fist Pump)

You'll have your chance tomorrow morning at THIS event!!!
Service Soapbox Baby Shower

So COME ON! Come join in for a good cause and meeting some of your favorite people!!! Hope to see you there!!!

Love,

P.S. I also wrote about the bad things my husband teaches my kids... Real World Venus vs. Mars... questionable...very very questionable.

Who is the fairest of them all??? My NEW BBFF!

***Make sure to click on the pictures below... my favorite charmer just taught me this new trick!!!

Once upon a time, in a far off land, there lived a spunky, sarcastic, red head... who called herself QUEEN.

This did confuse me much, because around here, in this neck of blog land, I WAS QUEEN!

So I did loathe her name much because I felt like I was talking to myself except that I was a spunky, sarcastic, and brunette...

Soon I found out that her kingdom was not far from mine.

She was the fairest one in her kingdom.

I, of course, was the fairest one in mine, and when I mean FAIR I mean WHITE. For her I mean gorgeous.

So we did discuss that we must meet up and see for SURE who was the fairest of us both!

So we did lunch.

And April, who is almost an empty nester in her land came to be our judge.

And April dubbed herself the winner.

The End.

Now let's review.

Queen, from Homer and Queen, is new around the blog land... but she gives some of the BEST comments ever. She's funny, sarcastic, and mischievious. And I liked her right off!

So when I found out she lived near me and she came up to my town often, we made a lunch date.

And if you add up how many times I've met a blogger in real life... you will concur that I am becoming a meet-a-blogger-in-real-life-prostitute... and I'm okay with that.

April came also and we had such a GOOD time. April was as cute and little as ever... and she's honest and smiles a lot and laughs even more. She's definitely someone you would want to hang around often. She's everything she seems!

Queen is a rockstar! I'm not lying. Gorgeous to boot to. In fact I think the first thing I said to her is, "WOW you're gorgeous!" She had me laughing from the moment we greeted each other. The waiter was eating out of her hands by the end of the meal.

You want to know what she said to me? "You're photogenic"... which means in code... basically... you're prettier in your pictures. So I took off my princess mask and let her see the OGRE underneath. Ya know what? She did the same! Except that she PUT on her OGRE mask to make me feel better... she's a REAL friend that way.

I'm not allowed to discuss anything we talked about... "what's said at lunch, stays at lunch" she warned me, but I have definitely made a friend for life! I think April would agree, but I'm speaking for her so I don't REALLY know.

Queen agreeing? Not sure either, but I bet she's always UP for a free lunch and a Spit Free Diet Coke with lemon?

Next time guys... LUNCH's on ME!!! (I'll bring my princess mask)

Shelle

Meeting BBFF's...F X 4

For my F X 4 I had to put up the picture of the VERY first BLOGGER I have met in REAL LIFE!!!

So Binks in her Twitter told me her and her husband were flying off to Vegas for a business trip of some kind...WHO CARES ABOUT THE DETAILS...I live somewhat near Vegas...at least withing driving distance so I told her that!

We then planned a time to meet and get together for dinner before they had to jet out again!

I've read her for so long I felt like I had already known her forever...so I wasn't nervous to meet her as much as I was extremely excited! It was the same feeling I get when I go and visit my Old Neighbors from where I use to live.

MountainSport Man came with me and Binks was exactly how I pictured her to be! She was funny and sweet and totally charming...

Unfortunately I was a complete mess! Half of it I blame on getting up way early in the morning...half of it was pure me...but she laughed at my jokes and that's all that counts. I mixed Calamari up with Escargot...and then the dish that was the compliment of the cook was Green Beans doused with this delicious garlic and seedy dressing with some kind of nut...but even though I heard the server mention it was Green Beans I called is Asparagus...so just so you know, so that you don't do what I did and say, "I may not know my squid or snail but I know my vegetables...this is Asparagus"...Green Beans boiled and shriveled up, look ALOT like Asparagus! All my husband had to say to that was, "She's a lot of fun to have around!" Thanks hun...way to have my back.

I also got to meet her sister Barbs...who was a ball of fun...lol...even if she did need to have her feelings validated over food...I get her, I get that! :)

So even though the picture has me tweaking my chin around...looking like the half brained person I was that night...we had a good time!

Binks is an incredible person! Thanks for EVERYTHING...I totally OWE YOU...and I can't wait to get together again! :)

How about you guys? Who have you met in the BLOG WORLD?

Go over to Candid Carrie's site to play F X 4...and BTW I talked to her on the phone in REAL life...she says she doesn't have an accent...but she totally does!!! :)

Love

Shelle

P.S. Binks...I want all your pictures because I only got to snap this one off before my battery died on my camera! :)
