In my OTHER life...

I KNOW that in my other life I was suppose to be a soccer player...

Don't laugh...

It's true.

I LOVE soccer...I love to watch it, I LOVED to play it, and I live through my son while I watch him play it! So that right there tells me I should have been a soccer player...not just ANY soccer player...but a REALLY REALLY GOOD soccer player!

AND, while living this number one soccer player life- every goal I made I would take my shirt off and run around Whopping and hollering like a crazy woman! See I do that now and I don't even have the whole just-made-a-goal scenario working for me...right now it just looks like crazy-lady-with-her-shirt-off-please-lock-up-in-mental-institution kind of scenario, so I REALLY need that whole make a goal in the WORLD CUP kind of thing!

But...as you can see...it is that time of year again! SOCCER season!

And even though I have always told myself I will never be one of those parents that yell at my kid on the sideline...

I lied...

I'm totally one of those annoying parents!

There's only one thing kinda squashing my dream here...I'm an aggressor, or was, when I played soccer...the BALL was mine, and I wasn't above tripping you for it.

But my son...

not so much. I get it. He's only six...but it is kind of a buzz kill for me ya know? I'm always yelling, "ELBOW THEM IN THE STOMACH WHEN THEY TAKE THE BALL AWAY FROM YOU!"--okay I kid, I don't say it...but I think it, which is just as bad because the man upstairs hears everything right?

Anyway...

Sometimes I think...maybe he's just too pretty to play soccer...seriously, I'm vain or proud or whatever...but my son's handsome...and I KNOW looks don't have anything to do with skill...HELLO can we say Beckham?

I love soccer cleats...and especially my boys soccer cleats...

Here's my husband...mid-yell at his boy...telling him he WANTS the ball! :) Yea, we both VOWED we'd never do it, but we do!

DCar made the first goal for his team...here he is giving he coach a "five"...

We woke PeePs up just in time to eat breakfast and come to the game with us...so her hair is bed hair...and yet, she still looks cute...why doesn't my bed hair look cute anymore?

He's number 6...
And after my little "aggression" pep talk...him and the ball became good friends!

Sometimes he gets a "little" frustrated with me...just a tinsy bit...

OKay...I think he might have taken my talk a little serious...LOVE IT...does that make me bad? It's part of the game! :)

Huddle time...

Love it...I hope I don't totally kill his love for it...because right now he tells me it's his favorite sport! So I'll keep most of my horrible-shouldn't-say-out-loud comments to myself!

Tell me...are you one of those sideline parents? I don't want to be...but it's hard not to...MOST of my shouting is totally positive...so that's okay...right?

Can I say I am envious of your photography skills? Great pics, as always!

My girls have yet to play any sports (they've done ballet and tap and both want to try gymnastics) so I have no experience in being a "sideline parent"... but I don't think there is anything wrong with your positive shouting. If it was me out there playing, I would want my mom and dad cheering for me, yelling out when I played well. :)

BTW, I didn't create my new blog header myself (I wouldn't now where to begin)... I had it done by a great gal named Shanua... her website is

Great photos, as usual.

I totally miss soccer. After Cab was too old for the rec soccer leagues, I encouraged him to try out for the high school team. He did not.
He was really good too.
I was sad.

As for the sidelines, I am a pretty reserved person but I was a total screamer.
Surprised even myself.

Great pictures!

I don't have a sporty bone in my body. It's probably a good thing, lol!

Sad but true, I am one of those parents also! It must come from cheer. I'm use to yelling, right?

Have ya' seen the soccer statue picture my son sent us from Switzerland? They are twelve feet high and look like real soccer players! Swiss love soccer too :)

My daughter always tells me to stop talking to her and yelling at the soccer games because she can't hear the coach. OK, maybe it's not that bad, but I do have to concentrate on net yelling and being one of those competitive parents.

hey. i totally know what you mean. it is soccer season. you can just feel it in the air! i so miss it! i wish i could do it all over again.

today was parker's first game ever and it brought me great joy! here's the way you solve that whole parent on the sideline thing. become the coach like i did then you're toally justified to say it!

great pictures

This is so funny, we had our first soccer game yesterday with my son, and the grandparents were all there, and about half of us are yellers and half of us are yelling at us to be quiet and let the poor kid concentrate on the game. :0)

Soccer season is the best!! I hope my kids don't resent me for forcing them to play that sport---but let's be honest, I'm fully going to. It's the best sport and as such they have no option but to play it.

I was thought there was a beach volleyball goddess inside of me waiting to get out. Spike!

Great pics.

I'm not that kind of parent (or brother-- my sister is much younger than me), or at least not yet, but I completely understand the urge. Sometimes you just want to jump in there yourself!

Add me to the scream at your kid soccer parents. It's all positive, though.
I know how you feel about wanting them to be more agressive. Never had much hope for my older one (she's 12, and doesn't play anymore). My little one is good, but she could be better if she just went in there and got that ball, kwim? But, she's only 5 and this is only her second season playing, so there's still hope. (Of course a better coach wouldn't hurt either!)
Great captures!
