Man Hands vs. Girlie Hands

Shelle Edit:  I posted this in June of 2008.  My posts were more or less about my family.  But it's interesting how ones writing progresses (or not, depending on your opinion)--But there is some things that never change--which is my obsession with my mans hands.  So I thought I'd re-post this for you newbies.  Hopefully if I wrote that post now I'd be way more interesting, but the concept is the same!  Hope everyone is having a nice and relaxing summer-because I'm not-and I need to live vicariously through SOMEONE! :)

Let me let you in on a little secret of mine. I love hands! I do...it's weird...but I do. Kinda like how some people LOVE feet!

I LOVE hands...

It's not the VERY first thing I required physically in a man when I was dating...but it was definitely in the top Five. My first being eyes, then smile, then teeth, then hands...and other things come after that.

Of course they needed the personality to go along with the good looks, but DANG...I can't wake up to someone that scares me...ya know...I'm shallow and vain...remember...

MountainSport Man's hands are so beautiful they almost make me cry...I call them MAGIC hands, because they are the only hands that have ever successfully given me a massage...and I didn't cry like a victim being tortured...I actually felt bereft when he stopped...like he had given me a taste of delicious ice cream and then snatched it away only to have me watch him eat it...but I'm too prideful to ask him to continue because I always told him that NO ONE could EVER make me like massages...again, I LIED.

For example...I had a guy in college that I LOVED. He made me pee my pants with his jokes, took me out frequently and brought me gifts, and surprised me at work with my favorite smoothies! He was a gem...totally would and will be a fantastic husband to some really great girl...I'm sure...but the guy had girlie hands. He used the tips of his fingers to open bottles...and I don't know...but it just rubbed me the wrong way, and no matter how much I TRIED to make myself see the other things about him that I LOVED there was the one wall...a stumbling block of sorts...I couldn't see past it...My vain and shallow self could only cringe at the thought of him helping me OPEN a bottle of something while making dinner together as a couple...I just couldn't do it...and so he always remained my REALLY GOOD FRIEND!

It was unfortunate really, the guy had really GREAT lips...never tried them out though, didn't want to start macking on his delicious lips and then feel his girlie fingertips caressing my neck...gives me the hibbie gibbie's...

I get it...I'm weird...and your point? My husband has incredible hands...beautiful, manly, and so natural...

Even MORE beautiful then my man's hands...is watching him do this with my spoiled rugrat PeePs

and listening...then giggling...then again listening to her pure unadulterated laughter...
While watching him watch this...(He's mine...but you can look...it's okay :) )

Hey batter batter...
and swing...

Love,

Shelle

I have one of THOSE kids...

May 12, 2008
WARNING: May not be suitable for...well, it just might not be suitable...just remember...I WARNED YOU!

So I never thought I would have one of THOSE kids...you know the ones...the kids that, as the OTHER parent, you laugh and think in your head...I will never have a kid like THAT!

No not me...my kids weren't going to be dirty, or have bare feet...uugghh...or be disrespectful to their elders...

My kids were going to be perfect! They would be those kids that everyone looked at and smiled at, and thought to themselves...aaahhhh, such cute PERFECT kids...not like that kid, and then they would point to him...

Yes...him...the kid with a PLUMBER'S CRACK...they would shake their heads and be ashamed at the sight! Who would buy their kids swim trunks TOO big...(hello...me here...let me answer that...the kind of parent that let's their kids wear hand-me-downs from their cousin...because it saves me what? $10.00?)...back to the point at hand...

So to give THAT kid some credit...he did attempt to keep up his shorts...he did...he really, really did! They were waiting for the water...and then boom...all thoughts of keeping the shorts up went bye, bye...

As he, in child free spirit, enjoyed the moment...like we should...live in the moment...I mean who cares

Laugh.play. drink. in the sun and the fun...

Oh Hey...little PeePs...Enjoying yourself??? Of course you are waving at your Daddy...not paying any attention to the crazy lady yelling your name to smile at the big black camera...why...why...must I scream, why don't you smile and wave at Mommy?...anyhow...what was I saying?

Then the waiting again...and so I remind him...because, well I must...because I am the parent...

"Hey, DCar, pull up your shorts!"

And then the water comes...and then all thoughts of being the PERFECT kid slips away...

He must frolick and play...

and lose himself in the pure enjoyment of the water shooting out of the sidewalk!!!

Oh come on now...did you have to do that...crap, I am going to have to admit it huh...I HAVE one of THOSE kids...

Do I lose points as a parent or something? Is there some protocol I must go through to redeem myself because guess what...I secretly laughed...I did...I laughed and laughed because those darn shorts would not stay up and he could've cared less...he had no modesty...and I loved it...I love him...and I get to claim him. :) hahaha!

Funny pics of my kids!

March 13, 2008

They say that kids learn by example...and now I believe! I truly look like this when I watch TV...or so my husband and family says! LOL! I am also always wearing my sun glasses when I go outside...I think they are sensitive from all that Lifeguarding I did growing up...but now PeePs always says when she gets the sun in her eyes that she can't see and needs her glasses...well we didn't have any of hers on this excursion we took so I let her wear mine, and I of course, SUFFERED!!! LOL! Oh well!

DCar watching a video in the car!

PeePs watching a movie at home!

This is after I took the picture...she wanted me to take one of her holding her drink...CHEESE!

Aren't they just adorable!

I am just so lucky that my kids enjoy each other! I hope they continue to have a friendship as they grow up like the friendship I share with my brother's and sisters! Wow! Definitely blessed!

Of course PeePs had to try and convince DCar to twirl with her! The "princess" demanded it!

Of course DCar being the good brother that he is...and has learned fast...to appease a lady when she has a stubborn will! I love ite! He is such a good big brother!

And PeePs had to sing TWINKLE TWINKLE! ENJOY!

PeePs and DCar Entertaining us!

It was funny because DCar just all of a sudden dipped PeePs and kissed her on the cheek! But she turned her head...it was hilarious!

We were watching the SNL in the 90's and the rugrats were copying the skit with Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze being Chip and Dale Dancers! It was so funny!

My Two Rascals-So just my thoughts!

December 31, 2007

Okay so I don't do much of this...like write my thoughts and stuff unless it has to do with a picture. But I was thinking about this year and I just have some thoughts. This year has been so crazy for our family. MountainSport Man is going to school and we are living with my very patient parents! I have to work...pretty much full-time for benefits so that MSM can go to school full-time and concentrate on grades and getting through school as quickly as possibe! I have always worked one way or another, but when we lived in West Jordan I had the opportunity to stay home with my kid (DCar) while MSM worked. I didn't think I would like it very much...I thought...to be honest...that it would be boring. Now that I have had to start working full-time and I have done it for a year and some...I can pretty much say...without a shadow of a doubt that I LOVE staying at home. Once I got the hang of staying home and realizing all I could get accomplished in ONE day...I started having FUN. NO..I didn't make money...but I was my own boss...I prioritized my day and I accomplished SOOOOO much. I managed to clean something, do laundry, work with DCar on his letters, sign language, or reading, play with DCar, go to lunch with a friend, go grocery shopping (or just fun shopping), put DCar down for a nap, read, pick up after DCar, and have dinner made (okay most of the time) by the time MSM came home from work. I embraced being a mom and a homemaker and I am telling you now...it was my calling. Since going back to work, I have realized what a blessing that was! I miss it! Don't get me wrong...I love that I am blessed with a job that is flexible and I can work my schedule around my kids, but they are missing out on the full mom that I can be. I know other women can do it...and they are much more organized and stronger than I am...but I am finding it hard to be a good MOM and a good EMPLOYEE. Trying to manage both I feel that no matter how hard I try, I'm letting one or the other down. I don't get as much done during the day when I work because I have to sit behind a desk. I get home and am exhausted and so I am definitely not giving my kids the quality time that they deserve...on my days off I want them to be just that...days off. I suck...and I am sucking at juggling both. I know I have to endure until MSM graduates...but it has been hard. But it has helped me with one thing...I totally appreciate and will be forever thankful when I can be "just" a Mom again. It is definitely hard work but work that makes me happy. I LOVE my kids...I love the joy they bring to me in my life...I love even the trials that they bring...it's a struggle, it's hard, and I definitely mess up ALL the time being a MOM...but I LOVE everything that comes with it...even the tears...and believe me there have been a lot of them! I can't wait until I can be a full-time/stay at home Mom again! I miss my kids...even though I see them all of the time.

So I made these collage's because I got these pictures taken of them and never was able to show all of them...so even though these are old...here are my two little Rascals...I'm very partial, but I think they are adorable! DCar is 5 and loves to laugh, play any video game, and ride anything with wheels! PeePs is 2 and loves to color, play dress up, and do anything DCar does! So ENJOY! Oh and have a good NEW YEAR!

Making Sugar Cookies

October 7, 2007

We decided to decorate Halloween Sugar Cookies. I used Grandma Viv's frosting recipe.
The kids had a good time cutting out the shapes and frosting the cookies! They
tasted really good also. We bought sugar cookie sheets pre-made at Walmart so that
helped with the process and kept it short to keep the kid's attention span...although PeePs
only lasted like 30 minutes then she was off on her own!
