Does that mean I am NOT busy because I blog?

Have you ever heard, "I"m too busy to blog"?

Have you?

Because I have.

And everytime I hear that I have to think to myself...while I curl up my fingers to the point where they are white knuckled and the blood has ceased to fight it's way too them...I think, "Oh are they saying I'm NOT busy?"

And not in a particularly good way. All sorts of sarcastic remarks spring to my mind...many which are not nice...and since being mean doesn't BECOME me...I bite my tongue, sometimes drawing blood, and just smile.

I think it is because they don't get it. And they don't. Any number of my BBFF's would have to agree with me when I tell you, blogging is a release to be what you may or may not be in REAL life.

You can get your thoughts and ideas and imagination out there. It's a sort of therapy...but also a social group.

I love getting online and looking in, and checking out, the lives of my REAL life BFF's and also my Blog BFF's and I'm going to admit...I have Blog BFF's!

But, it's not like I spend hours upon hours EVERYDAY on the computer? I write my post...I check a portion of blogs, comment, and I'm done. I laugh, snort, cry, and take pictures on a Blog Across America...and I only BLOG when I have something to say. Believe it or not...that's pretty much everyday!

I am definitely addicted to it...but it's not like a drug addiction or a food addiction...I don't wake up, CRAVE to be online, forget about a shower...stare hoplessly at a screen and live my life through other people, because my life is just TOO hard to bare?

I get up (and if I don't have to work or be anywhere)...get online, I don't shower because I don't FEEL like it, I stare at the screen with HOPE not hoplessness...sheesh...because I think maybe, just maybe, if I dream it, read it enough, it will come true.

Does that mean I don't have a life?

HA! You crazies...in fact it means I DO have a life...HA!

All kidding aside...unless you walk a mile in my blog...don't judge.

I have a life.

It just includes blogging...which has lead me to meet the most incredible, funny, and unique people.

Some I have had the pleasure to meet in REAL life...and the others? I don't doubt I'll meet sometime in the near future.

So blogging is addicting, it takes some of my time, but not all of it. I still have time to be a Mom, go to work, shoot photography, choreograph, visit the sick, do my Visiting Teaching, go to church, read my scriptures, say my prayers, sleep, help my kids with their homework, pick my kids up from activities and drop them off, worry about my weight, have girl dinners-lunches-or weekends, go to the movies with my Husband, do OTHER things with my husband, and fit in some exercise.

If my kids are surviving on Corn Dogs and Cereal? Who's to say its because of blogging?

Love,

Shelle

Just because I haven't showered or left the house in three weeks, and blog 20 hours a day, doesn't mean I'm addicted. ;) But seriously, non-bloggers just don't get it. Their loss.

Non bloggers just do not get it! No, people dont spend their life on the computer, we just manage time better and type faster!

Just because my husband can't go to bed at night because I'm sitting in the bed with the computer for hours and hours, it doesn't mean my marriage is suffering because of blogging.

Some people just jump to conclusions!

I get this crap too...ignore it. Some people judge way too much . I love blogging and some people in my life can kiss it. :)

Only a small minority of people who know me in real life know I blog...so I haven't gotten that yet:)

But I'm glad that despite your busy life you still blog!

People make time for what's important to them. I'm betting people who say that have something else that they doe even though they're "busy." Maybe they quilt or they scrapbook or whatever. I've gotten the same thing particularly with writing. "When my kids are all grown up, THEN I'll write a book."

YEAH, sure . . . because time just drops into your lap . . . Erg.

hahaha...I hear that all the time too! People ask me how I find the time, I guess I just blog instead of gossipping on the phone! Seriously, it is amazing how much I get done in a day, and STILL have time to post and read other favorite blogs (and I never, ever check on blogs while I'm at work!)
My family enjoys my blogs, I have had no complaints, no "let's just see if you can stay off the computer" and no starving children here!
BTW...check out my fabulous giveaway for Valentine's Day!!!

Blogging is good for me. I'm in school, and my courses are done in an online environment. Read: I'm already on the computer.

Blogging is a good study break ... write a post, read, comment, return to studies. I think it's healthy. And everyone needs a hobby, for crying out loud! Maybe I'm too busy to do ... whatever it is those people do to relax and unwind. What do they do anyway? Sew? Dance? Drink alone in the dark? Yeah ... see ... too busy for that.

EXACTLY!

That's all I wanted to say "Exactly"

Basically I was going to say the same thing as Annette. Whenever people give me that line about any of my hobbies (blogging, scrapbooking, photography) I usually just say, oh, well....I never watch TV. It's true, and it usually shuts them up because most people have several hours a week of shows to watch.

good thing I'm too busy blogging to go around criticizing other people's priorities :)

Amen sister. What if you think of all the money you save from not having to pay therapy bills? huh, huh, huh, what about that? And if your kids have to fend for themselves with cereal, it is teaching them self reliance.

I admit that on days I don't have to leave the house, I would rather sit and blog than shower, is that a crime. Then I am guilty.

If blogging in wrong, I don't want to be write.

Amen. You hit the nail on the head!

Yep, I'm there. I love to read about the insanity in other people's lives - it makes me feel better about admitting to the insanity in MY life!

If you are addicted, I need rehab. Immediately.

Oh. Are corn dogs and cereal not sufficient meal-wise? Oops. Guess I was too busy blogging to notice. :)

So true!!!! Other people scrapbook, sew, paint, draw, read. Me? I can't do any of that, so I blog!

My kids grew up on tater tots and applesauce ---and they are FINE. (therapy has done wonders for them) Seriously they did eat alot of that. BUT bloging is very theraputic I think. I love meeting all these new people through their blog stories. I find it very stress relieving for me. Sounds like you are very BUSY and still find time to blog. YOu've got corn dogs for the kids and OTHER things for the hubby --sounds like a balanced life to me.

I tend to blog a bit too much myself and spend a bit too long on things that really shouldn't take that long. But I do tend to keep busy and get more done than blogging.

Sometimes, though, I just get the blogging done.

You know thats just an excuse, because they're just not CREATIVE enough to blog! Losers don't know what they're missing! ;) haha

Exactly!

This is my disconnect with all the stresses of my day.
If I wasn't here, I'd be glued to the TV. What is the difference?

At least here, I am interacting with people.

I'm with Kristina P. If you need help, I'm in deep!

I think my husband and kid are alive BECAUSE of blogging. It's my little world that can't get messed up by ketchup fingers.

I allot myself time on the computer everyday. It's a way to see what my BBFF's are doing. To laugh and cry and just have fun. Maybe even through in a suggestion or two.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I get the same way but I don't usually hold my tongue. I'm a jerk, like that.

Hello babe. I really do heart you, but you'd never know cos it's been bloody ages since I've been to visit. Too long, too long.

I agree with everything you said. They don't get it, and I doubt they ever will.

I less-than-three you. Muah!

Oh! And I SO want to meet you someday! I know we would totally hit it off!

You can do it all, girl! I think it is great that you are so open to all your blogging friends. How did you make so many blogging friends? I was wondering how that process worked. Anyways, we are definitely coming down south so I will call you. Hope to see you soon!

Love the post. I get a little annoyed when I get that comment too, but "they" don't know what they are missing. I consider it socializing and it's a way to create an electronic scrapbook and even print it out to keep for memories... how does watching TV even compare and that's what "they" all make time to do :)

I have a car that I'm restoring and have been for many years, inbetween I have worked, raised kids, served, etc.

One time a friend pulled my pen out of my pocket in front of a group of mutual friends. He asked the group if anyone thought that I could put the pen back together if I took it apart since I couldn't get the car put back together.

I asked him, in front of everyone, what his passion was, what was his internal motivator. He said he had none. My answer to him was that I wasn't restoring the car to please him or to meet his schedule and that I didn't really care to hear his opinion again.

What a sad life if we can't express ourselves in our own way. Everybody is different even though we're all the same.

Tell the critics to go fly a kite.

Next they'll tell you that you waste your time with photography.

Sorry, still mad at the friend.

Yeah, I totally know what you mean. "Too busy to blog" does imply that those of us who DO spend a little time each week blogging must have empty lives with nothing better to do all day. HA! Lame!

Preach it, sister! Well said!

I get the same thing... I just say "Whatev." I may be "addicted" to blogging, but it's something I can do for me. Know what I mean?

Mother Goose said...

like for real! everyone has their own priorities for time! I get it and I love blogging too.
