Dry Climate and Hot Steaming Showers

You know what I REALLY hate about winter/spring but still winter?

Not the cold weather...no...not that.

Who minds all the big comfy clothes all the time?  NOT ME!

I hate my HAIR during the winter.

Sucks.

Ya want to know why?

Well, I'm going to tell you anyway.

I live in a DRY climate and I love HOT showers.  Not cool, not warm, but STEAMING HOT SHOWERS.

Not a very good mix for hair.  Leaves it limp and dry and it tends to fly away.

I could solve this problem by washing and rinsing my hair in COOL water.

I just can't bring myself to do it.

So I wash my hair...blow dry it...and not 15 minutes later it is flying up and static-key like I rubbed a balloon on it for CRYING OUT LOUD!!!

That goes for skin also.  My skin is dry by nature...add Steaming HOT water and DRY climate, and if I don't apply lotion my skin cracks...sucks.

But on the softer side of tears...I released my angst yesterday by closing the door to my room, turning up Lady Gaga...JUST DANCE...and lip syncing like I was a rock star...I haven't done that in YEARS, I forgot how good it feels!

Just saying...

You should try it! :)  Anybody else want to have a vent session with me...it's always better with company! :)

If you have perfect hair and live in perfect climate, I BLOK you from this blog...meaning I'll be nice to your face, but talk behind your back...

WHAT?

I can't tell the TRUTH when I vent?

Fine...I love everyone equally...even if they have long-beautiful-non-dry-locks and great legs, butt, thighs, abs, and chest!

Shelle

LIVE: Dancin' with PeePs

I was going to post some random video blog about something as important as finding the right SONG to go with your friends.

I know...I'll definitely explain that one later.

But I have to tell you what kept me busy last Friday.

My daughter, PeePs, decided that she liked seeing herself on Video.

All Friday I got, "
Mom, can we dance again? So I can see my hands and face again?"

You see...I was working on the computer...
editing photos...when she came to sit on my lap and watch.

So I
made the mistake got the opportunity to show her what iMovie can do.

We were sitting there and I pulled iMovie up and she was ENTHRALLED.

THe girl
LOVES to look at herself. Remember when I posted the video of her dance recital, and I believe she didn't know the dance because she paid more attention to the mirror then to the teacher?

Yea...well I pulled up my iTunes and we started jammin' to one of my favorite feel good songs by MIKA, LOVE TODAY.

Then we made another and another and another...and each time we did it I
got more crazy...I think I started enjoying it even MORE than she did! lol!  My only excuse is that I was tired and doing ANYTHING I could to get myself out of cleaning and laundry.

I look like a complete idiot...
it was cleaning and laundry day so I look the part...but I had to show you my girl in ALL her chocolate face glory and her fascination with herself on video...it cracks me up!

I want you to know this wasn't choreographed...c
ompletely impromptu...

I know, we look like professionals, I just didn't want you to get the wrong idea and shout our praises and all! :)

Shelle

Serious Sunday

What a great day it is today!

I get to remember what is important in life.  I get to listen to great men and woman whom I believe are inspired to remind me of life's greatest purpose and treasures!

I LOVE conference!

I do.  Not just because I don't have to get dressed up and high tail my way to church.

But because I truly love to listen to the messages.

It's crazy how a little neglect of my spirit gets my priorities out of whack so fast.

Anyway...don't want to spill my guts and depress everyone :)...It's just nice to be reminded that there is SOOOO much more beyond this life.  That because I know there is a Father in Heaven who loves ME so much that he prepared a way for me to live again with Him and my Family someday.

I LOVE the Book of Mormon and the Bible...I learn best from other peoples experiences, successes and failures...so THANK goodness there are books written to help us in our day.

I completely believe that there is a prophet today that talks with Heavenly Father so that he may lead us...I love President Thomas S. Monson (I was bawling during his talk--way to reach in and grab my spirit!) and all the other prophets before him, especially Joseph Smith, who had the courage to restore the Gospel.

Because of these things...and the gospel in my life...I TRULY have been So blessed.  I have an incredible husband, the sweetest two kids...surrounded by extended family that makes me laugh and helps me when I cry...and incredible FRIENDS in REAL LIFE and in the BLOGGY world.

Love you guys,

Happy Sunday

Shelle

Patting myself on the back...

I'm patting myself on the back for the weekend.

I just found out I made TOP 8 in this photo contest.  Hold your ears while I scream!!!  I'm completely floored!

Just saying.

And I'm an official HOT MAMA according to the HOT DADS, but I think they were inebriated when they decided that?  I'll take whatever I can get though...

Thanks.

Warning:  Since I know some of my readers are PG or PG-13 blog readers...HOT DADS are men that talk openly about their kids, relationships and whatever else goes on in the male mind...and they don't censor themselves.  Depending on who writes the article...you might be in for a surprise.  But they think I'm HOT...and that says something!

Did I just hear you laugh?

RUDE.

Shelle

Yes I want what I can't have...sue me!

I'm horrible at wanting what I can't have.

So this is one of those posts where you will either hate me or understand me. :)

When someone tells me I can't have something...or if I happen to lose something that before I didn't really care about...I want it. My mind is consumed with getting it back or getting it at all!

Sad right? I think that is how my husband got me...he knew this about me and gave me the impression that he wasn't interested...what the WHAT? 10 years later...you know the end of that story! :)

I thought as I matured that I would get over this annoying little personality trait. But no...it only gets worse.

Let me give you two most RECENT examples.

Pistachios.

Absolutely my MOST favorite snack of the nut family. (Let's face it, I have many other favorite snacks)

Let me tell you a secret. I buy a bag of those babies, de-shelled (yes I'm lazy like that), at Costco probably every 8 days. NO LIE. There not cheap either...just saying...My daughter loves them also, so it isn't just ME eating them, or that's what I like to tell myself. My husband and son will eat them also, but it's not their FIRST choice.

So with the recent RECALL of Pistachio's...I'm going nuts. No pun intended. I CRAVE them now. It's weird. Before, when I could have them at my whim, I guess I didn't APPRECIATE my Pistachio freedom...

This is how horrible I am. When I was told about the Pistachio Salmonella poisoning I spent quite a bit of time researching exactly WHICH plant they came from and if they effected the ones I buy from Costco. Though the ones I buy from Costco are not from the same processing plant as the ones being recalled...Costco does have a trail mix that is effected but that's it...though they ADVISE to hold off on opening my BRAND spankin' new bag of de-shelled pistachio's until everything settles down.

I'm obsessed with thinking about them. I feel like I should be in a Psyche Ward or something.

My friend brought some shelled pistachio's to mine and her son's soccer game...and as I was warning her about the salmonella poisoning I ate a handful of hers...because they were already opened and she had eaten HALF the bag and hadn't been effected so we figured we were safe...

What?

Don't JUDGE me!

Second example. My current read.

I'm in the middle of a book.

I've lost that book. I think it fell out of my purse on one of the many rare occasions I leave it unzipped.

It isn't really that good to be honest.

But now that I have lost it.

I can't think of anything else besides HOW THAT STUPID BOOK TURNS OUT!

ARRRGGHHH!

What tops it all off. Not MY book...not the libraries book...but a good friends book. I have to go buy her a new one so I can finish the dang book and so that I don't look like someone who's not responsible.

Should I mention to her that I'm temporarily insane because I can't have my pistachio fix? Do you think she will understand? Have a good...pistachio freakin' free weekend!

Shelle
